Stairway to the Stars Lighthouse Climb

Saturday, October 10, 2026 • 7–9 p.m.

See Cape May’s lighthouse after dark during Stairway to the Stars. This special climb is timed for the new moon, when less moonlight makes stars and constellations easier to see on a clear night.

THE CLIMB
The route follows 199 steps on the original cast-iron spiral staircase. Landings provide places to pause and read about lighthouse keepers and the surrounding area before reaching the watch gallery.

Built in 1859, the lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation. Cape May MAC restored the landmark and maintains it for visitors.

ADMISSION
Adults: $20.
Children ages 3–12: $10.
Purchase tickets from the Lighthouse Keeper on the evening of the event.

PLAN YOUR VISIT
Cape May Lighthouse, 215 Lighthouse Avenue, in Cape May Point State Park. Free parking is available. Wear practical, flat shoes: heels are unsuitable for the open metal stairway. Binoculars are permitted if securely worn.
